Hi! I am Blair Bedner, aka Ms. Bedner or Ms. B!

I am honored to have been named the Sugar Land Middle School’s 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year and a Finalist for District Teacher of the Year!
This is my eighth year as an educator. I am currently teaching seventh grade science and seventh and eighth grade Robotics & Engineering at Sugar Land Middle School.
I serve as cosponsor to the Coding and Robotics Club and Science Club. This past year our Coding and Robotics Club won first place in the district LEGO Mars Robotics Competition. In addition to competing in my district’s Robotics, Scratch Animation and Video Game Competitions, this year we are also competing in the SeaPearch Underwater Competition.
I manage the campus website and for the past two years, my team and I participated in Impact Teams which encourages student ownership in learning. This year, my team implemented a protocol from the model in a PLC which was recorded and used in a summer professional development to help model and encourage strategies to conduct a successful data driven PLC.
In 2018 I participated in the Equip Academy, which provided me with 15 laptops to use in my classroom. For six of my eight years in education, I have had a 1:1 student to laptop ratio, and for the other two years, I was 2:1.
I received my Masters of Education in Digital Learning and Leading in 2017.
I previously taught 6th grade science at James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus in La Porte, TX where I served as the robotics coach. In 2015 my robotics partner and I were awarded a grant for $3,658 to help implement a robotics club at our campus. In 2016 we were awarded a grant for $4,000 to purchase iPads for the robotics program.
